Fumiya Uchikoshi (pronounced Φɯmija ɯt͡ɕikoɕi) is a second year Ph.D student at the Department of Sociology, Princeton University. He was at the Department of Sociology, University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2018. He received his M.A. in Sociology from the University of Tokyo in 2017 and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tokyo in 2015.

His primary research interests are in family demography and social stratification. His current research examines the diverging family behaviors and its impact on social inequality and the consequences of newly emerging behaviors on future life course outcomes in familialistic societies. A second line of research examines occupational segregation by gender in Japan, focusing on its trends and causes.

His work has been published in Demographic Research and Research in Social Stratification and Mobility.
